It’s wonderful to meet you,
I’m Emily Rose Chene — mama, wife, photographer, and believer in the quiet power of memory.
My love for photography was passed down from my dad, who first placed a camera in my hands basically when I could hold it and not break it. (Honestly probably before then) What started as a fascination with capturing the people I loved became the deepest kind of calling — to preserve that same beauty and connection for others.
I graduated from the Hallmark Institute of Photography in 2014 and received highest honors with top portfolio in my class. There I studied under world-renowned masters like David Turner and Gregory Heisler. Following graduation, I stepped into this work with a full heart — and I’ve never looked back.
I live and work in Southeast Michigan (but love the opportunity to travel) alongside my husband Sean (my second shooter, assistant, right hand- more about him later) and our three children — two fiery redheads and our sweet brown-haired baby boy. They remind me daily of how sacred these fleeting moments really are.
My style is rooted in fine art tradition: both formally posed and candid environmental portraiture, wrapped in warmth, framed by nature, and kissed with a sense of timelessness. Whether I’m photographing a bride, a senior, or a mother-to-be, I approach every session with the same reverence — knowing these aren’t just images, they’re memories passed down.
In addition to heirloom portraiture, I also lead a creative agency for corporate work — ERI Creative — where I provide branding, commercial, and visual storytelling services for businesses and entrepreneurs.
I’m so honored you’ve found your way here. Let’s create something that lasts.
A bit about me
Molly
Louie
Charlie
I’ve shot Nikon since the day I picked up a camera. Is it better? I don’t even know. Is there a reason? Nope. I am a creature of comfort and am 15 years too familiar to change now.
I’ve been with my husband, my second shooter, my sweet love, for over 14 years, married for 7. He’s been shooting with me for 11 years and sometimes I worry he’s coming for my job. So I make sure to humble him by having him carry the bags.
I have three kids, Charlie, Molly, and Louie. Yes, I photograph them all of the time. Yes they hate it. No I won’t stop.
Yes, two of my kids have bright red hair. No, me and my husband do not. Yes, we have it on both sides of the family. Yes we were just as shocked as you are!
We moved to Milan, MI by accident in 2014, and never left. We’ve owned since 2017 and have no plans of going anywhere. This is home. But we sure love the adventures we go on our clients.
Here’s the big one….. our last name is pronounced “Shane”- like the boys name. No I didn’t guess it right the first time I saw it too. No I won’t be offended if you get it wrong or just want to play it safe and stick with Emily Rose. Yes, Sean is “Sean Shane” and it’s ok if you giggle about it (sorry hunny, love you!)
Meet Sean!
Second shooter, bag carrier, reflector holder, human tripod. If you’re working with me, you’re working with Sean. The wheel doesn’t turn without him.
Sean started by carrying the gear and assisting on shoots way back in 2014, then started picking up my camera at parties and holidays to capturing memories of our kids. Finally at a wedding after a few years, I threw him my extra body and said, “See what you can get,” He must’ve done alright because since then we have shot numerous events and weddings over the last 11 years.
Sean is a contractor by day and moonlights as my counterpart in this husband-wife team during evenings and weekends. Just like he does in our personal lives, Sean brings a calm, safe, thoughtful energy to every shoot. He’s equal parts kid and animal whisperer.
To know Sean is to love him.
